Gruesome Gotham was a Fast Company Innovation by Design Honoree alongside apps like Acorns, HQ Trivia and IKEA Place as well as a FWA winner.

Background
Apple released their developer ARkit a couple of months before Halloween, giving developers everywhere the tools to design AR experiences on the Apple platform. To try it out, we created an AR app that guided New Yorkers through some of the city's most gruesome murders in history.

Idea
Gruesome Gotham features murders from 19th Century New York and lets users experience them in the exact locations where they occurred. Using the map, users navigate to the location of a murder in the real world and then load the scene in AR. Ominous narration accompanies each scene as users explore every angle of the moment it happened.

Created with the help of Apple’s ARKit, the app is free to download for anyone with an iPhone 6S or later with the latest iOS update.
